Es War Einmal (eswareinmal)
A mix of farce and serious fantasy, Einmal is a game that balances lighthearted fun with a complex and rich (if often cliched and trope-ridden) world that's open for exploration and can change based on player actions.

Characters are given a "role" on arrival, a fantasy trope that they're expected by the town's inhabitants to follow. Yet these roles seem a superfluous way of the world trying to mold the chosen heroes into fitting in, an annoyance at worst, and at best something to be used to their advantage or just enjoyed. After all, isn't everyday you get told you're a wizard and get the skills to match!

Players are encouraged to form their own plots, prod at the NPCs, discover plotholes and dig around to uncover the things hidden away just out of sight and get their characters tangled up with the overarching plotline that makes up the backbone of the game.

The game currently has around 15 characters and runs on a 2:7 day ratio. Laid back community, easy AC, very back tag friendly.

Information Index

Einmal is an experiment in many ways. There's no long term plans, just a framework and an open map. Like a D&D game with friends where the DM is willing to roll with almost any crazy plan you want, the game is run by the players, with the mod floating above, painting the scene just before the players walk into it. An open sandbox, an open world and very few limitations.

One of the important things [...] with the game is to make sure everything's accessible; the world, the NPCs, the mod, the players, the plots, everything. The mod account is named The Quest Giver for just that reason.

◘ We are a Community-Based game with a slower pace and an easy-to-meet AC, not to mention back tag friendly. Our game runs on a 2:7 day ratio, and our events and plot hooks often last for several in-game days to make them hard to miss, even if you’re gone for a week.

◘ Characters arrive and are given a Role by the local townsfolk. Players pick the role, and can chose a role that fits their character’s place in canon...or pick a role that gives the character a completely new, and surprising, skill-set. Customize the roles even further by attaching a ‘type’; the Foundling Prince, perhaps, or a Fire Knight.

◘ Like a good table-top game, Plot is Character Driven, and doesn’t advance until someone advances it. At the same time, Character-Based Plots are also highly encouraged. Einmal is an open world with many things to explore and do above or beyond the main plot line. This means anything from player-run businesses to player-run guilds and plots to overthrow the King (good luck).

◘ Additionally, optional Plot- and Player-based Quests occasionally become available, and offer players the chance to earn special rewards for their characters.

◘ Original Characters are accepted along with Canon Characters, and we already have a good mixture of live action, anime, and video game characters. Canon AU and Version AU are allowed if they are sufficiently differentiated from each other, and we also allow characters to come in with experiences from previous games.
